Study Abroad Timeline

Fall 2012- attended American University for the fall semester, withdrew due to financial reasons. Dreamed of studying abroad.

Spring 2013- applied to UMW, was accepted!

Summer 2013- signed up for a French class to fulfill language studies requirement

August 2013- attended my first ever French class at nine a.m. on the 28th. Began to love the language, despite it making me oh-so-frustrated at times.

November 2013- started researching abroad programs, stumbled upon Quebec- an intriguing city for a fourth of the costs of studying in France.

January 2014- created a petition for UMW to allow me to study with the Bouchereau Lingua International language school in Quebec City. Slogged through more paperwork. Enrolled in French 102.

February 2014- petition officially submitted!

March 2014- petition approved! Also applied and was accepted by BLI. (The acceptance letter was completely in French!) Applied for passport

May 2014- financial aid appointment, received a B+ in French 102, enrolled in French 201 (a five week intensive class).

June 2014- received an A- in French 201!

July 2014- took placement exams for BLI, finally bought plane tickets.
